Nordics Win CCBC Membership Contest Division D

For the past month, the club has been competing in the Cross Country BC Membership contest. Clubs that create the most gains by percentage, win prizes. Each club is placed in a division of similar sized clubs.  Our club will win a fleet of rental skiis. [details forthcoming]

This is a massive accomplishment for our club considering that there isn’t any snow to ski on yet. This bodes well for the future of the club and the nordic community.

“Group D:  100 Mile has come from behind to take the victory from Nordic Racers, breaking their all-time membership record in the process!  Incredible effort by Williams Lake in the final week, with the biggest gain of any club in BC, taking 3rd.  Note that Williams Lake is now 2 months ahead of last year.

This year we have 3 new winners, and 3 repeat winners.  (In total, there have been 15 different winning clubs in the past 3 years.)  In particular this year, we saw a very strong showing by northern BC.

  • Group A:  In the end, Sovereign Lake prevailed by the slimmest of margins.  Nice lunge at the finish by Telemark for a photo-finish tie for 2nd with Caledonia.  Very strong finish by Kimberley, gaining more than 200 members in the final few days.  Including Larch Hills, everyone in the group is ahead of this day last year.

  • Group B:  Overlander with the 3-peat.  Barely.  Revelstoke almost nipped them at the finish.  Very nice work by the chase pack, led by Nelson and Fernie.  It must be noted that Revy is 400 members and 2 months ahead of this day last year.

  • Group C:  After 3 years of being in the lead for most of each race, Hollyburn finally hangs on for the victory.  Massive homestretch efforts by both Strathcona and Snow Valley to give them a run for their money.

  • Group D:  100 Mile has come from behind to take the victory from Nordic Racers, breaking their all-time membership record in the process!  Incredible effort by Williams Lake in the final week, with the biggest gain of any club in BC, taking 3rd.  Note that Williams Lake is now 2 months ahead of last year.

  • Group E:  Whiskey Jack of Ft St John for the win, setting a new club record in the process!  Sea to Sky finished second, and Tetrahedron and Sun Peaks tied for 3rd.  Strong finish by Valhalla Hills.

  • Group F:  Very nice work by little Skmana in Chase BC, with a new influx of energy and tripling their membership in the process.    Barriere and Clinton finished 2nd and 3rd followed by McKinney.
